Admission to the Bangladesh Medical College is through 1st year. The number of seats available per year is one hundred and thirty. Admission is based on merit and is very competitive with a high ratio of applicants to available seats. Five students are given free studentship and do not have to pay any fees for their medical studies. Notice for admission of students is published in the daily newspapers. Classes will be held both in Dhanmondi and Uttara Campus.

Local Students

Students passing in SSC 2004 or 2005 and HSC 2006 or 2007 with total GPA 8 but minimum GPA 3.5 in each examination having GPA 3 in Biology are eligible to appear for admission 2007-2008 Session. Admission is based on merit as per GPA score in SSC and HSC examination together with scores in admission test arranged by the college as per policy laid down by Health Ministry.

Foreign Students

Seats are reserved for foreign students. They are selected through oral examinations. Foreign students interested in admission to BMC must process qualifications equivalent to SSC and HSC as per local students.. Students who have passed 'O' Level with best five subjects and GPA 2 in optional subject and 'A' Level with 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) minimum 3 in Biology are eligible to apply. Students who have completed 12th grade with required subjects are also eligible to apply.

Candidates selected for admission in all categories will have to submit two stamp size photographs for identity card and medical fitness report from designated doctors of BMC.

 
     
   
     
 

Information regarding admission, tuition, exam and different heads will be provided separately as and when applicable.

A student has to continue paying his/her tuition fee till he/she passes final professional examination. Vat @ 4.5% payable with all deposits to college by the students.

Tuition fees are payable within 15th day of the current month, failing which a fine of Taka ten per day will be charged. The name of the student will be removed from the College Register if tuition fees are unpaid for three or more  months. The student will then have to seek re-admission on payment of full arrears dues and a fine of Taka ten thousand. Tuition fees will have to be cleared before each professional examinations.

Fees for local students:

A)  Development fee    Tk. 10,00,000/=

B)  Admission fee        Tk. 78,000/=

C)  Misc.                     Tk. 100,000/=

D)  Caution Money      Tk. 10,000/= (refundable)

E)  Tuition Fee            Tk. 12,000/= (for 1st two months)

Total Taka                        = 12,00,000/= (Twelve lacs ) + Vat @ 4.5 %
                              Govt. rules.)

This cancels any other previous decision.

* Tuition fee would be Taka 6000/= till completion of 1st Professional examination and Taka 7000/= from 3rd year onwards.


Fees for Foreign students:

A)  Development fee        US$ 16,500/=

B)  Admission fee            US$ 3,500/=

C)  Misc.                        US$ 750/= ( Taka 10,000/= for caution or equivalent money refundable)

D)  Tuition Fee               US$ 1,250/= (for 1st six months) BD Taka.

Total US$                       = 22,000/= (US Dollar twenty two thousand) only.          

4. Tuition fee US$ 2,500.00 per year for first 1 ½ years (two installments)

5. Tuition fee US$ 3,000.00 per year onwards in two installments.


CAUTION MONEY

Caution money will be refundable within one, year of completing internship. Beyond that period it would be forfeited.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

Students selected for admission must submit physical fitness certificate from BMC authorized doctors.
 

Free studentship

Five free studentship are awarded every year to deserving meritorious students who do not have the financial ability to pay the College fees. Candidates interested in free studentship have to apply in separate admission form. Candidates must have at least GPA 9 in SSC and HSC examination combined. Candidates applying for free studentship will not be considered for admission under general studentship (paying studentship). Similarly, candidates applying for general studentship (paying studentship) will not be considered for admission under free studentship. Bangladesh Medical College reserves the right of assessing the financial capability of candidates applying for free studentship. Students who are admitted against free studentship quota will not be given any honorarium during internship period. One free studentship is reserved for Khan A Sabur Trust.

STAFF QUOTA

Five seats will be kept reserved for admission of sons and daughters of the employees of BMSRI and its units in the following manner:

a) Fees of development fee: 1 student, for employees drawing pay in grade 10 and below

b) 50% of development fee- 2 students.   c)  Full development fee- 2 students.

A person serving in BMSRI  and its units on regular basis having completed 5 years of service will be eligible to apply for admission of his/her ward. If selected he/she will have to furnish a bond on non-judicial stamp to serve BMSRI and its units for five years before admission procedure is complete. Any non-compliance caused by the employee(s) such as termination from the job, resignation on his own etc. any any stage of his/her ward's academic life in BMC will lead to payment of full development fee/partial development fee for rest of the period or any other decision by the Governing Body as the case may be.
